Supporting Data Policies and Data Workflows in Distributed Research Infrastructures by PIDs

The automation of data management workflows is a topic that is in the focus of several European and international infrastructure initiatives. System independent Persistent Identifiers and their related services can be utilized to automate and standardize workflows and processes. Some of the essential basics, like a prototypical data type registry and other client services, have already been implemented by the Persistent Identifier Consortium for eResearch (ePIC) and will be discussed during the presentation.
