DIGITAL INFRASTRUCTURES for RESEARCH 2018 | Serving the user base

Research engagement across e-Infrastructures - Towards an integrated approach

Date:
Thursday, September 29, 2016 - 11:30

Overview:

In this session we will discuss the research engagement strategies of organisations involved in supporting use of European e-infrastructures.

Over the last few decades the need for e-infrastructure has been growing. All disciplines are increasingly relying on e-infrastructure resources for their research. Yet, over that same period, it has become apparent that researchers are still unaware of the existence of many of the resources available to them, even with all our (separate) efforts to inform them. On the other hand, researchers are confronted with a varied landscape of local, national and international e-infrastructures, which can be overwhelming to them. By sharing research engagement strategies and experiences between organisations offering e-infrastructures this session will give an overview of the research engagement landscape and highlight areas for possible collaborations. This should lead to a shared understanding of the goals, strategies, audiences and effectiveness of the outreach activities and should result in a list of synergies and areas where collaboration is possible.

The main output of this session will be a set of recommendations concerning future areas for collaboration between organisations for more impactful and synergistic pan-European research engagement and outreach.

Target Audience:

The target audience is research engagement representatives of (Inter)National e-Infrastructure Providers, Universities and other Research Institutions.
